Train booking

Search a route, pick a class, hold a seat with a PNR.

From and to stations, date, class and quota — then a sample availability table, passenger details, a fare breakdown and an e-ticket. Quota and date change the results in this sandbox.

  • Quota and date affect availability
  • Up to four passengers
  • Sample 10-digit PNR on the e-ticket

Every flow on this page is a sandbox demonstration.

Demo environment — no real transaction is performed.

Three sample trains per route. Availability is derived from the route, date and quota, so Tatkal and weekends look busier.

Step 1 of 5

Your selection

Pick a train and class to see the running fare here.

Before you start

What you need and what you get

What you need

  • Route and date

Pick stations from the list (or swap them) and a date within the booking window.

  • Class and quota

General, Tatkal, Ladies or Senior citizen. Each quota has rules the form enforces.

  • Passenger details

Name, age, gender and a berth preference for up to four passengers, plus a contact number.

What you get

  • An e-ticket with a PNR

A sample 10-digit PNR, coach and berth per passenger, and the booking status.

  • An itemised fare

Base fare, reservation fee, Tatkal charge, concession and taxes listed before you pay.

  • PNR check

Use the PNR check below or the personal hub lookup to see the status again later.

Fees and timing

Nothing is added after the review step

How it works

Train booking in 4 steps

The sandbox above follows exactly these steps, so what you see is what the real flow does.

  1. Search

Stations, date, class filter and quota. Validation catches same-station routes and dates outside the window.

  2. Choose a class

Each class shows a fare and a synthetic availability pill: available, RAC or waitlisted.

  3. Passengers

Names, ages, gender and berth preference. Quota rules are checked here.

  4. Review and book

An itemised fare, then the e-ticket with PNR, coach and berth per passenger.
